HGV Class 2 (C) Driver | Skips

Job Description

We are currently recruiting an HGV Class 2 Skip Driver to support our client based in Bridgwater, Somerset.

The role involves delivering, collecting and exchanging skips at commercial and residential locations, operating a skip-loading vehicle and ensuring all loads are safely secured before transport.

We're looking for a reliable, professional driver who is confident manoeuvring HGV vehicles in a variety of environments and providing excellent customer service.

The Role

• Operating an HGV Class 2 skip-loading vehicle.
• Delivering, collecting and exchanging skips at commercial and residential locations.
• Completing scheduled collections and deliveries across the local area.
• Manoeuvring safely in restricted spaces and customer premises.
• Working closely with the transport office to complete daily routes.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Safely operating skip-loading equipment and hydraulic lifting systems.
• Ensuring skips are correctly positioned, loaded and secured.
• Carrying out daily vehicle and equipment safety checks.
• Assessing collection and delivery locations for safe access.
• Following road safety and waste transport procedures.
• Completing delivery and collection paperwork accurately.
• Reporting vehicle defects, damaged skips or safety concerns.
• Maintaining professional communication with customers and colleagues.

Requirements

• Valid HGV Class 2 (Category C) driving licence.
• Valid Driver CPC qualification (DQC).
• Valid Digital Tachograph Card.
• Previous skip-loading or similar vehicle experience preferred.
• Confidence operating hydraulic lifting equipment safely.
• Good awareness of vehicle dimensions and restricted access locations.
• Ability to work independently and manage daily workloads.
• Professional, reliable and safety-conscious approach.

Pay & Benefits

• £15.00 per hour – standard rate.
• £20.00 per hour – overtime rate.
